Copic to OLO Suggested Conversion Guide & Printable Swatch Pages

Free Printable Reference for Alcohol Marker Crafters

Love following Crafty Stamp Co. color recipes but use OLO markers instead of Copics? This guide was created to help.

At Crafty Stamp Co., our color recipes are created and tested with Copic markers. Copics are the markers we personally use for our coloring, cardmaking projects, tutorials, and Crafty Color Recipes.

That said, we know many crafty friends use different alcohol marker brands, including OLO. This free printable guide is meant to be a helpful resource for those crafters by offering suggested OLO substitutes for Copic colors.

These are not exact one-for-one conversions. Instead, they are intended as closest-match starting points to help you follow along with Crafty Stamp Co. color recipes using the markers you already own.

Important Note About Marker Conversions

Copic and OLO are two different alcohol marker systems. Because the color ranges, ink formulas, and numbering systems are different, not every Copic color will have a perfect OLO match.

Color results may vary depending on:

  • The cardstock you use
  • How much ink you layer
  • Your blending style
  • Lighting and photography
  • Whether your markers are newer, older, or recently refilled

For best results, we always recommend swatching your markers on the same cardstock you use for finished handmade cards.

How to Use This Guide

Use the suggested OLO colors as a starting point when following Crafty Stamp Co. Copic-based color recipes.

When using OLO substitutes, always test your blend first. You may find that you prefer adjusting one color lighter, darker, warmer, or cooler depending on your cardstock and personal coloring style.

The printable guide also includes space for swatching so you can compare colors side by side and create a personal reference that works for your own coloring style.

Match Level Key

Close Match
A strong substitute for most cardmaking and coloring purposes.

Similar Family
A similar color direction, but not an exact match. This may still work beautifully in a blend.

Blend Substitute
A useful option inside a blend, even if it does not match perfectly on its own.

No Strong Match
No reliable OLO substitute is listed. Choose the closest color from your own swatches.

A Friendly Reminder

Crafty Stamp Co. color recipes, tutorials, and color charts are created using Copic markers unless otherwise noted.

OLO colors listed in this guide are suggested substitutes only and are not exact matches. We encourage you to swatch, test, and adjust as needed so your finished project feels just right.
