You Inspire Me with Meg Daves

Today we’re rolling out the red carpet for Meg Daves and this sweet, clean crafty mouse card featuring our Crafty Mice 4x6 Stamp Set and Party Polka Dot 6x6 Stencil. We love how Meg kept the design soft and simple with a lightly stenciled background, a sweet crafty mouse image, and a tiny sentiment strip. This project is such a lovely example of how subtle stenciling, white space, and one adorable stamped image can come together to create a handmade card full of encouragement and charm. Here’s what Meg had to say about the project.

Hello, crafty friends! Meg here, from I Teach Stamping, and today I’m sharing a sweet card featuring the Crafty Mice Stamp Set and Party Polka Dots Stencil. This little mouse surrounded by pencils, markers, and a paintbrush is perfect for celebrating someone who inspires your creativity—or simply another crafty friend who understands your love of supplies!

I started by cutting a white cardstock panel with a scalloped rectangle die. I placed the Party Polka Dots Stencil over it and softly blended a pale pink ink through the openings.

I wanted the background to add a little color and playfulness without competing with the stamped image, so I kept the ink blending soft and allowed plenty of white space to show. The mix of different-sized dots creates interest while keeping the card light and cheerful.

Next, I stamped the crafty mouse onto cardstock using an alcohol-marker-friendly black ink. I colored the image with my OLO Markers, using soft grays for the mouse and small pops of green, yellow, blue, and purple for the pencils. Those bright little touches help the art supplies stand out without overwhelming the design.

After cutting out the colored image, I attached it near the lower-right corner of the stenciled panel with foam tape. This gives the mouse a little dimension and helps separate it from the dotted background.

I stamped the “You inspire me” sentiment in black ink, trimmed it into a narrow strip, and tucked one end behind the mouse. I love how the placement makes the sentiment feel connected to the image while leaving the rest of the card open and uncluttered.

To finish the card, I layered the scalloped piece onto a white pierced-edge panel and attached everything to a white card base.
I love how the Party Polka Dots Stencil gives this clean and simple card a playful background without adding another heavy layer. Paired with that adorable image from the Crafty Mice Stamp Set, it makes such a fun card for a crafty friend, teacher, mentor, or anyone who inspires you.
