Spoopy Donuts with Meg Daves

Spoopy Donuts with Meg Daves

Today we’re rolling out the red carpet for Meg Daves and this clean, dimensional Halloween card featuring our Spoopy Donuts Stamp Set. We love how Meg colored the spooky donuts with OLO markers and added dimension with 3D foam for a simple layout that still has so much personality. This project is such a fun example of how repeated stamped images, bold coloring, and a little lift can come together to create a handmade card full of playful Halloween charm. Here’s what Meg had to say about the project.

Hello, crafty friends! Meg here, from I Teach Stamping, and today I’m sharing a Halloween card featuring the adorable Spoopy Donuts Stamp Set from Crafty Stamp Co. These images are so much fun to color, and those silly little monster faces make it easy to give every donut its own personality.

I started by stamping three of the donut images onto OLO Blending Card with an alcohol-marker-friendly black ink. I colored each donut with bright green OLO Markers, using a mix of lighter and darker shades to add depth around the edges and under the frosting.

For the frosting, I used shades of gray and then added the sprinkles with a white acrylic marker. Those little white details really pop against the darker frosting!

While the acrylic marker dried, I lightly blended Lime Rickey ink onto a white cardstock panel. I kept the brightest color behind the donuts and allowed it to fade softly into the white background. A few black splatters added just enough contrast without taking attention away from those adorable stamped images.

Next, I die cut three white squares and arranged them vertically along the left side of the panel. Turning each square in a slightly different direction kept the layout playful and helped carry the eye down the card.

After cutting out the colored donuts, I attached one to each square with foam tape for dimension. I finished the card by stamping the “Donut scare me, I’ll pee my sprinkles!” sentiment in black beside the center donut and adding the completed panel to a white card base.
