Sending You Love with Positive Tate | Crafty Crew Feature with Megan

If you love happy-mail moments and all things pink, today’s project is going to steal your heart. Megan is back on the blog with a “Sending You Love” card that pairs our Positive Tates Love Notes 4x6 stamp set with the soft textures of the Watercolor Birthday 6x6 pattern paper for a sweet Valentine-ready design.

From the heart-filled doily frame to the tiny envelopes tucked around Tatertot as he posts his letter, every layer on this card feels like a love note in itself. In her tutorial below, Megan walks you through how she built this layout, colored that adorable little mail-potato, and added those final details that make the whole card pop.

Grab a cozy drink, your favorite pinks, and let’s see how Megan puts this charming “sending love” scene together.

Hey friends Megan with the design team here sharing a Valentine's Day themed card. This card features one of the sweet images from the Positive Tate Love Notes 4 x 6 stamp set.

Handmade pink Valentine card with Tatertot mailing a letter into a postbox, framed by a white heart doily and tiny pink envelopes, using Positive Tates Love Notes stamp set and Watercolor Birthday pattern paper.

Do you love the pink and black color combo? I know I do, but guess what, I almost did not add black layers to this card. Honestly when I was daydreaming about the layout for this card, black had not even entered the daydream. But I am so glad I decided to add the black layers. It made the card for me.

Recently I have started with creating my base layers before I even color my image. It has been a good change up in my card making process. I started by cutting out the pink colored card stock with a crimped rectangle die.

From there I cut the dark pink layer and a sparkle strip of the Watercolor Birthday 6x6 Pattern Paper Pack. And then the black mats for layering.

Using a die from my stash I cut the heart border piece that Tate sits on from another piece of the Watercolor Birthday 6 x 6 pattern paper. Sadly, the photo doesn't show the details of the paper. Let me just tell you the colors are so soft and pretty.

I then made two tiny envelopes by cutting 1 1/2" squares and doing my best to fold the squares into envelope shapes. For the envelope closure, I added off cut hearts from the piece Tate sits on. And yes, I added stardust stickles to the hearts. A Valentine's Day card must have glitters!

I used Copic Markers to color in Tate and used my Scan N Cut to cut him out. The envelopes have a bit of heft to them, so I added foam tape to the spaces behind Tate that do not touch the envelope so that everything was even. I also added foam tape to the right side of the focal die cut. There are 4 layers of cardstock under it, so the right side needed to be evened out.

To finish the card, I added the sentiment to a black mat and black enamel dots to pull the black from the back of the card to the front. And of course, a few white gel pen highlights. Those kinds of touches make a card visually appealing to me.

I hope this card makes you say AWW. Positive Tate is just so sweet. Be sure to check out the latest release from Crafty Stamp Co, there are so many fun sets to work with.
