Rainbow Sprinkles & Unicorn Sparkles with Deborah Hellman

Today we’re rolling out the red carpet for Deborah Hellman and this sweet, sparkly unicorn birthday card featuring our September 2026 Crafty Crew Kit, Unicorn Slumber Party 4x6 Stamp Set, and Unicorns and Cotton Candy 6x6 Pattern Paper. We love how Deborah paired the adorable unicorn costume image with soft pastel layers, sparkle details, and a sweet birthday sentiment. This project is such a lovely example of how playful stamped images, dreamy patterned paper, and soft embellishments can come together to create a handmade card full of birthday magic. Hi everyone! Deborah here, and I am SUPER excited about the new September 2026 Crafty Crew Kit! It has been hard not to tell the world that this fabulous kit was coming soon. I love all things cute and whimsical, and one of my granddaughters is a unicorn fanatic. Meadow in unicorn pajamas, her unicorn pal, and unicorn sweet treats ... What's not to love? When I make cards, I always select my paper first and then decide on a general design layout for my card before beginning to color. The colors in the Unicorn and Cotton Candy Paper Pack and so dreamy... sooo many beautiful choices. I often tweek the design as I work, but I like to have a mental picture of what I want to create. I also like to match my alcohol ink marker colors to the pattern paper and solid cardstock that I am using. As you can see in the photo below, I am also very frugal and like to cut shapes out of the middle of my background paper layers. It saves paper and "How would they know?

Once my images were colored, I assembled and attached the cut cardstock. For my A2 unicorn birthday card, in addition to the cut shapes and background layers, I arranged my focal images and sentiment in a triangle and added some of the self adhesive dew drop embellishments that are included as an extra for subscribers only to help draw your eye around the entire card. I also added adhesive tape foam behind the sentiment for added dimension.
