Ocean Friends with Megan

Hey all! Megan with the design team here to share a card that features a bit of positivity. The sentiment for this card is from Positive Tate's Ocean Adventures. I used the adorable crab from the Ocean Friends Stamps set and to give the scene a bit more interest I created a Stitched Circle frame and added detail with 1 of the Rays of the Sun stencils.

I started by creating a classic Sand, Ocean, Sky background using Distress Oxide inks. Sand colors are Ground Espresso, Gathered Twigs, Brush Corduroy, and Scattered Straw. Ocean color is Blueprint Sketch, before it was dry I added Wink of Stella to give it a wave look, I used it sparingly while the background was still wet because the oxide is water reactive. The sky colors are Squeezed Lemonade, Scattered Straw, Carved Pumpkin, and Candied Apple with a touch of Salty Ocean at the very top. To give the background added interest, I used a hillside scape and stitched rectangle dies from my stash.

Next step was picking the sentiment to go with this fun crab, Ocean Friends has fantastic sentiments, in the end I decided to go with one of the sentiments from Positive Tate's Ocean Adventures. I do love to mix and match my sets. After coloring the silly crab with Copic markers, I cut out the sentiment and the crab with my Scan N Cut. 

I die cut a few different size stars from dies in my stash and colored them with Copic markers to mimic starfish for a fun finish to the card. And because I never know when enough is enough, I created a stitched circle frame and used Rays of the Sun Stencil to give it a sunshine feel. 

I layered everything on the stitched rectangle background and adhered with liquid adhesive, then added a touch of white splatter and adhered the stitched rectangle layout to a dark brown A2 card base. 

These are such fun sets to play with, and I had so much fun mixing and matching images and sentiments. Do you often use sentiments from different sets to complete a card?
