Make a Splash Meadow with Megan
Hey crafty people, Megan here with a new DT inspiration card. For today's card I used Mermaid Dreams 6 x 6 pattern paper, Make a splash Meadow, and the Bubbles Stencil.
I started by creating a blended background on a piece of Bristol Smooth paper using Distress Oxide Inks Salty Ocean, Broken China, Stormy Sky, Brushed Corduroy, Scorched Timber, and Ground Espresso. I did add some ink splatters to give the sand area texture using Distress Inks Brushed Corduroy, Vintage photo, Frayed Burlap and some white calligraphy ink. I added a bubble layer using the Bubbles Stencil to the background, I think the bubbles are so fun around the Mermaid.
I am always in need of Birthday Cards; this set is perfect because it has two options for Birthday sentiments. I used the Hope your Birthday is - Fin Tastic combo. I stamped and heat embossed it on the blended background. After heat embossing the sentiment, I added a layer of Distress Glaze to brighten up the background.
I stamped out Make a Splash Meadow and colored the image with Copic markers, I had a lot of fun creating purple hair for this mermaid. She is a bigger image so once the coloring is done the card comes together quickly by making her the focus on the card front. I added her just above the birthday sentiment with liquid adhesive.
I cut a piece of Mermaid Dreams paper to the size of a standard A2 card and adhered it to a card base. I added low profile foam tape to the tape to blend the background and adhered that to the Mermaid dreams background. To finish the card, I added a bit of glitter to the bubbles and sand area using a liquid glue pen and glitter from my stash.
I hope this card shows you can make a simple background that Makes a splash with a large focal image.
