Love in the Spotlight with Randy | Movie Monsters Valentine Card

Roll out the red carpet — Design Team artist Randy Nguyen (@nguyenindoubt_makecards) is back in the director’s chair! 🎬

Today he’s sharing a fun and delightfully unexpected Valentine’s Day card featuring our Movie Monsters 4x6 stamp set, paired with the Birthday Filmstrip 6x6 stencil. With inky blends, water splatter, and faux stitching added by hand with a white gel pen (talk about dedication!), this design feels like a love note straight from the big screen.

If you enjoy playful themes, bold backgrounds, and tiny details that make a card feel extra special, you’re going to love how Randy brings these movie-night cuties into Valentine mode. Let’s hand things over to him so you can see how this cinematic card came together, step by step.

Hello crafty friends, DT Randy here, welcome back to the blog. This iconic couple from the Movie Monsters stamp set has been the subject of new and upcoming movies, and wanted to include them in a Valentine's Day card.

I thought this could be another set that could be stretched for another occasion.

I first stamped out my images and used Copic Markers to color them. I then fussy cut them out and set them to the side to work on my background.

I took an A2 panel and ink blended the Birthday Film Strip stencil with Worn Lipstick, Seedless Preserves and Villainous Potion Distress Oxides.

I then splattered white watercolor over the panel.

With the sentiment, I heat embossed it onto a piece of pink cardstock using embossing ink and white embossing powder. I the trimmed it down.

To assemble the card, I adhered the couple onto the panel using foam tape. I then adhered the sentiment at the top using liquid adhesive.
