Every Journey Starts with a Single Hop | Froggy Quotes Card by Shilo Miles
Today we’re rolling out the crafty red carpet for Shilo Miles and this absolutely delightful froggy card! From the stitched details to the layered window design and that bright pop of patterned paper in the background, this card is full of playful charm and thoughtful detail.
Shilo has such a beautiful way of adding texture and dimension to her projects, and we especially love how the sweet little frog from our Froggy Quotes Stamp Set takes center stage here. Paired with the bold color and pattern from the Super Stuff 6x6 Pattern Paper Pack, this card feels cheerful, whimsical, and full of encouragement.
Here’s what Shilo had to say about her lovely creation.
I started by coloring this little froggy and all her “accessories” with my Copic markers…. I then fussy cut out all the images. Once I decided I wanted to use the sentiment “every journey starts with a single hop”, my mind began thinking of how I could make this frog appear to be hopping. That’s when I eventually came up with the idea to make a “spring” and to have the frog “hop” from one lily pad to another.
At first I wanted to sew the “spring” onto my card front but quickly realized that I am not that talented - those little circles were way too tight for my skill level! So then I decided to give drawing it a try. I used my pencil first, then once I was happy, I traced it with a sharpie. I then fussy cut it out to look like it was part of the rest of the stamped images. And voila! A happy little spring!
For my backdrop, I think these cutouts made the perfect “level’ for my frog. She was able to jump up from level one and made it to level two!
I backed the cutouts with some sunshine pattern paper. I think this set the stage perfectly to add in my sentiment and other stamped images!
