VIDEO TUTORIAL: A Spinning Birthday Card for Stephen with A Day Without

This birthday card from Crafty Stamp Co. features the A Day Without 4x6 Stamp Set, Black & White Birthday 6x6 Pattern Paper, and the new Mini Craft Spin Bearings to create a playful spinning card element. It is a fun way to combine stamped images, patterned paper, and interactive cardmaking techniques for a unique birthday project.

Hey hey heeeey, crafty friends! Cristena here to wish you a happy Thursday and tell you, I had way too much fun making this card.

 

 

This one was for my son Stephen’s birthday, and since he just turned 20, Meadow has been giving him the hardest time about being old. So naturally, I decided to have fun with it and make his birthday card look like it belonged to someone turning 60 instead. That is what inspired me to pull out the Black & White Birthday 6x6 Pattern Paper and keep the design bold, simple, and a little dramatic.

 

 

But of course I could not leave it there.

I really wanted to try out the new Mini Craft Spin Bearings, so I turned the cat into the fun interactive element on the card. The little cat spins around on the cup, which made the whole card feel even more playful and unexpected. I love when a card has that little something extra that makes the recipient stop, smile, and play with it before they even open it.

 

 

To make the card even more personal for Stephen, I added the Vault-Tec logo to the cup the cat is sitting in. Fallout is one of his favorite video games and TV shows, so that little detail made the card feel extra “him.” Those are always my favorite kinds of cards to make — the ones that mix humor, personality, and a handmade touch all in one.

 

 

The sentiment at the bottom was the perfect finishing touch. Between the black-and-white birthday theme, the spinning cat, and the teasing joke about his age, it all came together into a birthday card that felt silly, personal, and fun. The sentiment is from an upcoming birthday sentiment set... so keep watching out for it!
