A Mer-Tastic Birthday Card with Whiskers of the Sea
We are swimming right into the sweetest kind of birthday magic today with this adorable card created by Deborah Hellman! Deborah brought together the playful kitties from Whiskers of the Sea 4x6 Stamp Set, dreamy ocean-inspired patterns from Mermaid Dreams 6x6 Pattern Paper, and the bubbly texture of the Bubble Wreath Die to create a card that feels soft, whimsical, and perfectly mer-tastic.
Here’s a closer look at Deborah’s project!
Hi everyone! Deborah here and I’m excited to share with you my super fun, mer-cat themed birthday card that I created using the new Wiskers of the Sea 4x6 Stamp Set, Mermaid Dreams 6x6 Pattern Paper Pack, and Bubble Wreath Die. This stamp set is perfect for making some fun summer cards!

I really enjoyed working with the Wiskers of the Sea 4x6 Stamp Set. This set includes 8 image stamps and 4 sentiments! The papers in the Mermaid Dreams 6x6 Pattern Paper Pack complement this set beautifully with lots of soft violet and blue water-themed patterns.

After stamping and cutting out my images on white cardstock, I selected my cardstock. Once I had selected my paper colors, I colored my images using alcohol ink markers, making sure to select colors that coordinated with my papers.

Here are my A2 card layer dimensions:
Base layer - 4¼" x 5½"
Purple band - 4¼" x 2½"
Bubble Wreath Die - 3⅞" diameter
Square Diamond - 2½" x 2½"

To complete the card, I assembled and attached the cut cardstock, colored stamped images, and sentiment. I added adhesive tape foam behind all of my colored images and sentiment for some added dimension.
Tip: When gluing thin die cuts, like the die cut from the Bubble Wreath Die, I put some glue on the back of my non-dominant hand, pick up my die cut with reverse tweezers, and then dab it around in the glue. It gives me a thin, even coverage, quickly. After attaching the die cut piece to my project, I let the glue on hand dry and then rub it off.
